Esther Short — About 400 people gathered in Esther Short Park on April 25 to participate in the March for Babies, raising $80,000 for the March of Dimes effort that helps support prenatal wellness programs, research grants, information for families experiencing a newborn intensive care unit hospitalization and advocacy efforts for stronger, healthier babies.

About $900,000 was raised in 10 walks throughout southwest Washington and Oregon.

“I’m so proud to be part of a community of people coming together for such a great cause,” said Barb Cardinale, Greater Oregon March of Dimes board chair, in a release from the organization. “Helping our babies should be a top priority, and we’re excited about what we’ve accomplished here.”
