Salmon Creek — Students at the Goddard School hosted their annual Children’s Art Gala on April 25, and raised more than $6,200 to be donated to Legacy Hospital’s Child Abuse Assessment Team, which provides non-acute pediatric evaluations for all forms of pediatric abuse.

Prior to the gala, teachers worked with students to create class and individual projects to sell at the auction. In a release from the school, Michelle Solari, owner of the school, said teaching kids to appreciate art at a young age encourages creativity and imagination.

“We feel it is equally important to teach children about helping people in need,” Solari added. “This develops a foundation of compassion and cooperation.”
