PeaceHealth names new chief medical officer

Vancouver-based PeaceHealth has appointed Dr. Michael Murphy to the newly created position of chief medical officer. Murphy, who begins work June 15, will work with Victoria King, chief nursing officer, to lead the areas of clinical care, quality, safety and patient experience. The position is based in Vancouver.

Murphy is a board-certified OB-GYN and who most recently worked as chief medical officer at Sharp Grossmont Hospital in San Diego. Murphy received his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University College of Medicine in Philadelphia and a law degree from Willamette University in Salem, Ore.

PeaceHealth operates hospitals, medical groups and labs in Alaska, Washington and Oregon including PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver.
