A search for a missing Vancouver girl ended Wednesday evening when the 12-year-old was found safe at a church in Camas.

The girl had ran away from her east Vancouver home Wednesday.

“Several (officers) have been looking ever since we got this call,” said Vancouver police Officer Ilia Botvinnik.

The girl had left her home in the 14900 block of Northeast 31st Street around noon Wednesday, and left behind a note saying she was going to Georgia where a family friend lives, Botvinnik said. Police did not believe she has a cellphone with her.

Police reported at about 9:50 p.m. that the girl was “safe and sound” after being located at the church.
