A single-vehicle crash on state Highway 500 near Falk Road on Wednesday morning caused heavy traffic in the area.

Jon Nelson, 24, of Vancouver was driving a White 2015 GMC Sierra pickup west on the highway when he veered into the center median and struck the guardrail at about 7 a.m., according to Washington State Patrol.

Troopers say the crash was caused by inattention and Nelson was cited for second-degree negligent driving. Nelson was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center where he was listed in satisfactory condition.

Emergency responders blocked both directions of the highway for about 10 minutes, but the effects of the crash were felt throughout the morning commute.
