Letter: Infrastructure neglected

Hundreds of our senators and representatives collect fat salaries trying to figure out how to get re-elected while letting the country’s foundations crumble.

On May 17, the “60 Minutes” program again showed how the infrastructure of our country is in desperate need of repair. So why can’t these supposedly intelligent people see the obvious? Stop the foreign aid. Let’s fix our problems and let these other countries worry about their own problems. We can always continue to help out in emergencies

How many jobs would be created if we started fixing our bridges, highways, airports and underground systems? How many young people could be taught how to use a shovel, a hammer, a wrench, or any other type of equipment? Get them off the streets and teach them how to make a living. How many tax dollars would be brought into the treasury because of their labors, just as our fathers and mothers have done for years and years? Can you imagine that we would even be able to pay off the national debt?
