A Vancouver boy who had been the subject of a police search was found safe at home, and apparently had never been missing, police said.

Police were dispatched at about 7:30 p.m. Friday to Burnt Bridge Creek Elementary School, 14619 N.E. 49th St., after a caller reported seeing a man approach a boy who had been playing on the playground, according to a bulletin from the Vancouver Police Department. The man did not appear to be related to the boy or know him, but they both pedaled away together on bicycles, the bulletin said.

Police searched the area and worked with school officials into the evening reported at about 11:15 p.m. that the boy was found at home, which was near the playground. The boy “was not missing at any point in time,” a police bulletin said.
