Large numbers of people wanting Nike’s latest hot shoes — the Air Jordan 11 Retro Low in “True Red” — flooded the company’s website starting at 7 a.m. Saturday.
But some customers reported that they waited for hours as the website told them they were “in line” and wouldn’t allow them check out with the shoes, priced at $170 for an adult pair.
Some people gave up. But others said they stuck it out at their computers or smartphones for more than five hours — only to see a message finally pop up saying the shoes were no longer available.
Plenty of angry wannabe buyers vented on Twitter.

Not everyone walked away empty-handed, though — and some managed to capitalize by reselling the sneakers on eBay.
