Letter: Party move executed to deceive

The Columbian
Published: May 24, 2015, 5:00pm

A “false flag” operation is designed to deceive so it appears to be carried out by an entity other than the one actually conducting it. We may have our own false flag operation in the Clark County council chair’s race.

After being sanctioned by the Republican Party in March 2012, Marc Boldt told The Columbian he “still considered himself a Republican.” He declared himself a Republican candidate for county “commissioner” (sic) when he filed with the Public Disclosure Commission on April 16. Yet on May 12, Boldt filed with the elections office stating no party preference in the chair race, so his change of heart (if real) came after April 16. Is he an independent, or is he still a Republican?

An effort was made to convince Democrats not to run and to support newly independent Boldt. The game was transparent: collect votes from Democrats without a candidate, independents who see no party preference on the ballot, and Republicans who recall his prior affiliation. Mike Dalesandro, Battle Ground city councilor, spoiled those plans by filing as the only Democrat in a crowded field of Republicans (David Madore, Tom Mielke, and Jeanne E. Stewart) and one who was a Republican before stating no party preference (Boldt). Choose well.
