INTERNATIONAL DECA CONFERENCE

Camas High School students competed last month at the DECA International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Fla. Cameron Vega placed second worldwide for his Automotive Service Marketing event and Shannon Ahearn and Nataley Dormier placed in the top 10 worldwide for their work on a Financial Literacy Research Project. These four students also qualified for the final rounds of competition, placing them in the top 18 worldwide in their respective events: Areeb Ahsan, Louie Avino, Satya Hariharan and Noah White. The 26-member group, which included five first-year DECA members, was the largest Camas has ever sent to the conference.

TEN GRANDS SEATTLE CONCERT

Local students were among the guest artists at the annual Ten Grands Seattle concert, a musical variety show, on May 8 in Seattle, with students from nine schools statewide participating. Tiffany Chen, a harpist from Union High School, won a 1st place award for her performance. Chen’s director is Mark Claassen. Austin Miller, a senior from Camas High School, and Trevor Natiuk, a freshman from Columbia Adventist Academy in Battle Ground, both performed on the piano.
