A man who allegedly stabbed a customer Tuesday while robbing a Vancouver credit union was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder and first-degree robbery.

Detectives with the Vancouver Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested suspect Timar A. Degraffe and booked the 24-year-old into the Clark County Jail.

On Tuesday afternoon, a man walked into iQ Credit Union at 7017 N.E. Vancouver Mall Drive, demanded money and got an undisclosed amount of cash. When a customer tried to intervene, the man stabbed the customer in the stomach with a large knife.

The robber reportedly took a cab to Applebee’s on Northeast 112th Avenue near state Highway 500, where he continued to flee on foot, according to emergency radio traffic.

Credit union staff activated a panic alarm at 12:58 p.m. The incident put the credit union in lockdown for several hours as witnesses were interviewed.

Vancouver police spokeswoman Kim Kapp said the male victim, whose name was not released, remains hospitalized. His injuries were described as not life-threatening.

A surveillance photo of the suspect was sent to patrol officers and media. Police did not find the suspect on Tuesday.

Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit continue to investigate the incident. Previously, Degraffe has been convicted of domestic violence assault, theft and criminal impersonation, according to Columbian archives.
