Letter: Favor LaBrant for port commission

The Columbian
Published: May 26, 2015, 5:00pm

Candidate Eric LaBrant has worked alongside the Port of Vancouver as president of the Fruit Valley Neighborhood Association, where I grew up. He’s built a professional history with the port, has personally met with Tesoro and testified before the Legislature in Olympia. We cannot afford any setbacks in preventing the nation’s largest oil terminal from being built on our precious waterways.

LaBrant’s family lives next to the port so I know he’s invested in its safe operations. He has the combination of a business background, which will help protect our investments in tourism and riverfront properties, as well as experience in the oil fields. He has a vision for the safe business potential that the port offers to our community.

He will represent all of us, Republican, independent and Democrat alike, who want a viable and safe environment to hand to our children.
