MCMINNVILLE, Ore. — Four of the five students excluded last week from Yamhill-Carlton Intermediate School for not being vaccinated against whooping cough are back in class.

Yamhill Valley News-Register reports Principal Michael Fisher says the students have been able to satisfy the vaccination requirement in order to return to the school. He says in some cases, the school was able to find records indicating the students had been vaccinated.

County Health Officer William Koenig ordered the exclusion of the students because they were not vaccinated and one of their classmates had contracted the highly contagious disease.

Fisher says the remaining student will be able to participate remotely through a video link and will have to send homework and assignments via email. The student will be allowed back on campus on June 5.
