Tropical Storm Andres formed Thursday and has maximum sustained winds near 40 mph. The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami says the storm could become a hurricane by late Friday, though it is not currently forecast to threaten land.

The depression is centered about 690 miles southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico, and is moving west-northwest near 14 mph.
