Timbers at Colorado

Kickoff: 6 p.m. Saturday at Dicks Sporting Goods Park.

TV / radio: KPDX 49 (cable Ch. 13) / AM 750.

Match notes: The Timbers and the Rapids are both playing their third match over eight days. Portland beat visiting D.C. United 1-0 on Wednesday, while Colorado lost 1-0 on Wednesday at Seattle. The win over D.C. lifted the Timbers (4-5-4, 16 points) three points ahead of the last-place Rapids (2-3-7, 13 points) in the Western Conference. Portland will be without midfielders Diego Valeri (ankle sprain) and Diego Chara (suspended one game for yellow card accumulation). Jack Jewsbury, who played only a few minutes off the bench on Wednesday, figures to start this match. George Fochive, who started four matches early in the season but has not played since April 12, is an option to play alongside Jewsbury. Will Johnson made his season debut on Wednesday but is unlikely to start on such a short turnaround. Portland has two ties and four losses all time at Colorado. … Panamanian forward Gabriel Torres (4) is the only Rapids player with more than one goal. But Colorado recently added Irish forward Kevin Doyle (as a designated player) and Argentine forward Luis Solignac. The Rapids’ 1-0 win last Saturday over Vancouver was their first home win since last July. Former Timbers fullback Michael Harrington has started 11 of Colorado’s 12 matches.

Thorns at Washington

Kickoff is at 4 p.m. PDT today as the Thorns (2-2-2, eight points) visit the Spirit (3-3-1, 10 points). Both teams are coming off losses, and Portland is winless in its last four matches. The Thorns and Spirit played to a 2-2 draw on May 9 in Portland. A live webstream of all Thorns matches can be viewed at www.portlandthornsfc.com.

Timbers 2 at Tulsa — Portland Timbers 2 visits the Tulsa Roughnecks today for a 5:30 p.m. USL match. Both teams are 3-4-2 in league play. A live webstream can be viewed at www.timbers2.com.

Timbers Under-23 team loses — The Kitsap Pumas scored two late goals to beat the Timbers U23s 2-0 on Friday at Providence Park. Union High graduate Colin Partee made two saves for Portland.
