Letter: Good intentions don’t alter mistake

So now the backlash has begun. I keep hearing from people who somehow and for some reason want to excuse the illegal, unethical conduct of our Port of Vancouver commissioners by telling us how “nice” they all are, as if their personalities had anything to do with the oil terminal agreement. They keep telling me what a good job they’ve done over the years. Yes, until now, and this was the mistake to end all mistakes. And I’ve heard that they really had only good intentions. Isn’t there some sort of road to hell that’s paved with good intentions?
