SALEM, Ore. — Police say a father and his 14-year-old son were wounded in a drive-by shooting in northeast Salem.

Lt. Steve Birr of the Salem Police Department said Sunday that the boy, Arturo Chacon Jr., was taken to a Portland trauma center with a chest injury, but is expected to fully recover. His 34-year-old father was scheduled for surgery on a leg wound and is also expected to recover.

The shooting happened just after midnight, and the road where it occurred did not reopen until about 6 a.m.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call the Salem Police Department.
