A Milwaukie, Ore., woman escaped major injuries Sunday when the vehicle she was driving rolled on state Highway 500 in Vancouver.

Davina D. Curtis, 34, was driving a gray 2004 Toyota RAV4 west on the highway west of St. Johns Boulevard when she and the driver in the vehicle in front of her both moved from the middle lane to the right lane at the same time, according to the Washington State Patrol. The vehicle in front of Curtis then hit the brakes, and Curtis swerved to avoid hitting the vehicle, WSP said in a press memo.

Curtis’ RAV4 veered right, then left across all lanes of westbound traffic. It struck the jersey barrier in the median and rolled, WSP said. The crash occurred at about 12:30 p.m.

Curtis was transported to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center, where she was treated and released, hospital staff said. The vehicle she was driving was totaled, WSP said.

According to the agency, Curtis’ lack of attention caused the crash. She faces no charges in the incident.
