OKLAHOMA CITY — A jury has been seated for the trial of a former Oklahoma City police officer accused of sexually assaulting and victimizing 13 women.

Daniel Holtzclaw faces 36 counts of rape, sexual battery and other charges that carry a possible sentence of life in prison.

Jury selection was completed by midday Tuesday. Opening statements were expected to start later in the day.

Thirteen women have accused Holtzclaw of preying on them during traffic stops or elsewhere while in uniform.

Holtzclaw has pleaded not guilty. Attorneys for the 28-year-old former college football star have questioned the credibility of his accusers, saying they have criminal records and drug addictions.
