Letter: Protect your loved ones … in style

I want to express my overwhelming inspiration from Rich Stever’s Oct. 20 letter “Gun debate spurs manifesto.” Finally, someone who has the guts to tell us how things ought to be … but he forgot one thing.

All children in grades K-12 should be issued bulletproof vests. I know they serve little protection for one’s head, but they do protect their other little vital organs — heart, lungs, liver, etc. For the younger kids, the vests could be either Dora the Explorer, Ninja Turtles or Hello Kitty. And for the older kids, you could have Kurt Cobain, Marilyn Manson or the Kardashians. They could come in fun colors, too, like blood red, bone white and smithereen green. If you’re going to send your kid off to school protected, they might as well go in style.

I’m looking forward to joining Stever’s organization.
