Four people accused in a shoplifting-turned-robbery Friday at a Vancouver Safeway store appeared in Clark County Superior Court on Monday.

Lamar D. Bishop, 23, of Sacramento, Calif., and Portland residents Markisha S. Isaac, 25, James L. Lewis, 28, and Aliesha S. Talley, 22, appeared to face allegations of first-degree robbery and assault. Bishop also is accused of unlawful possession of a firearm.

The incident began about 9:05 p.m. at a Safeway store at 3707 Main St. when Isaac and Talley entered the store and allegedly placed multiple bottles of alcohol in their purses. They then left the store without paying, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Both women fled to a nearby running vehicle occupied by Bishop and Lewis, according to court records. When loss-prevention officers and store personnel tried to stop them, Bishop, a convicted felon, pointed a gun at one of the officers and said, “Get … back, or I will shoot you,” the affidavit said.

The group then left in the vehicle, but witnesses were able to provide a description for police.

Officers located the vehicle, a silver Kia sport-utility vehicle, driving south on Interstate 205 from state Highway 500 and stopped it. All of the occupants were detained, court records said, and police found a loaded revolver in Bishop’s pants pocket.

On Monday, all four were appointed an attorney and are being held on various bail amounts.

They are scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 20.
