PORTLAND — Police say a young man has died in a shooting in North Portland.
The man, described as in his late teens or early 20s, was shot while on a sidewalk Wednesday afternoon on the 3200 block of North Vancouver Avenue.
The Oregonian reported Red Cross nurse Karen Dieringer heard the shots and then saw two men running down the sidewalk. Police say the suspects may have run and then left the area in a silver vehicle.
Dieringer said she and others tried to help the wounded man.
The victim was taken to a Portland hospital and died a short time later. He has not been identified.
Portland Police Bureau’s Gang Enforcement Team are investigating.
