HILLSBORO, Ore. — One man died and two people were hurt in a head-on crash in Washington County.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Bob Ray says a 41-year-old Lafayette man crossed the center line on SW Roy Rogers Road and collided with a Ford driven by a 66-year-old Newberg woman.

The man died at the scene and the woman was taken by ambulance to OHSU Hospital. The woman’s injured grandson was sent to the same hospital and both were in serious condition.

Ray says investigators have yet to figure out why the man went into the oncoming lane Sunday night. There were no signs of impairment, and no evidence he applied the brakes or tried to steer away before impact.

The case is still under investigation.
