PORTLAND — A body that was recovered from the Willamette River has been identified as that of a Portland man who had been reported missing.

The Oregonian reports that the body of 33-year-old Eugene Vibar was pulled from the river Monday. The cause of his death was determined to be drowning.

Vibar had worked as a landscaper and was involved with The City Repair Project, a nonprofit that creates community gathering spaces.

Vibar’s roommate, Christian Broadbent, says Vibar said he was going for a walk on Nov. 1, but never returned home.

His body was discovered near the Fremont Bridge.
