HOCKINSON — Voters in February will get to decide on a nearly $14 million levy to support Hockinson schools after the school board voted to put it on the ballot Monday night.

“This levy will help (the) Hockinson School District continue funding essential student programs and services,” school board Chairwoman Katherine Davis said in a press release. “Local funding is critical to our overall school operations.”

The levy would pay for three new staff positions and help pay for positions not covered by state money, in addition to upgrading equipment and repairing buildings.

Replacing the current levy, it would cost the owner of a $200,000 home $712 in 2017, $798 in 2018 and $788 in 2019.

The levy election is Feb. 9.
