Letter: Letter writer wrong about Obama

By
Published:

The Nov. 19 letter “Prepare for enemy on our territory,” written by Robert Kerr, might have come straight from “Foux Noise” or some other hate-filled fear-mongering right-wing source. His disrespect of our elected officials shows his ignorance and/or disdain for our democracy.

Our twice-elected president has been noted as the most respected man in the world for several years. The fact that President Obama talked about climate change is because that is why he was in Turkey. The reason he talked about religion is because many in America, who claim to be Christian, do not act upon Christian teachings or values. Many in America claim to support the U.S. Constitution but must have never read it or choose to ignore the fact that it expressly rejects religion in government.

Kerr’s false assumptions about Democrats show that he is buying into the hate- and fear-mongering coming from the right-wing media, whose members only seem to be happy if we are starting yet another war for profit.

Check the facts. By any measure, America and Americans are much better off than when President Obama took office, and to keep saying he is a failure is to display your willful ignorance.
