Volunteer Connections provides opportunities through the Human Services Council.

• Walk and Knock needs drivers and food collectors to help with its annual food drive on Dec. 5.

• Clark County Food Bank is looking for shopper volunteers to help facilitate a class led by chef and nutrition instructors. Shoppers purchase food items for class, prepare take-home bags and help teach shopping skills in class. Lead assistants are also needed to manage equipment and supplies, and support the chef instructors in the Nutrition Education program.

• Interfaith Treasure House is looking for drivers with a van or truck to pick up bread and other donations from area stores. Donation sorters are also needed. The ability to stand for up to four hours and lift 20 pounds is required for the sorter position.

SCORE, a volunteer organization backed by the Small Business Administration, assists entrepreneurs in starting small businesses and helps existing small businesses succeed. The Vancouver chapter is looking for volunteers with business skills to mentor, lead workshops and create seminar content. A seminar coordinator is also needed to manage presenters’ and registrants’ arrangements, and much of the work may be done from the volunteer’s home. The Gifford Pinchot National Forest seeks to fill positions for four-year terms on two federal resource advisory committees–for the North Gifford Pinchot and the South Gifford Pinchot. Information is at www.fs.usda.gov/main/giffordpinchot/workingtogether/advisorycommittees. The city of Vancouver seeks to fill a midterm vacancy on the Salary Review Commission for a term ending Dec. 31, 2016. The five-member commission is responsible for reviewing and re-establishing or adjusting the salaries of the Vancouver mayor and city council every two years. Applicants must live in the city of Vancouver and be registered to vote. City officers, officials, employees and their immediate family members are not eligible.
