Letter: Madore is an embarrassment

I read Kaitlin Gillespie’s story “Councilor Madore borrows a grandma” in the Sept. 27 All Politics is Local column. Evidently, Clark County Councilor David Madore Google-searched a picture of a grandma for his Facebook page, apparently to make a point about reducing property taxes. She’s a grandma he doesn’t know, and she will never be affected by a 2 percent reduction in Clark County property taxes since she lives in Minnesota. To add insult to injury, she’s a Democrat. Where’s the “Don’t Do Stupid Stuff” mug?

I think the question that begs to be asked: Is Madore sincere about anything? Couldn’t he have at least talked to a real grandma in Clark County who would be affected by a property tax reduction? That would mean he’d have to actually get out and meet some of his constituents — people not in his inner circle. Doing that would also mean using up some of that $700 per month gas allowance on gas.

I’m quite sure he’ll never read this letter. So if you’re a friend or family member and you do read this, would you convince him to step down as councilor so he doesn’t suffer further embarrassment to himself and the residents of Clark County? The same residents who will be voting in our next election.
