Letter: More shameful to ignore abortions

In the Sept. 22 editorial, “Unwinnable Crusade: Some Republicans push government shutdown to party’s detriment,” the editorial board of The Columbian strongly expressed its displeasure with the conservatives in Congress, and specifically with the Tea Party, over their role in a possible government shutdown.

In the last paragraph of their opinion, the editorial stated that the Tea Party had acted “shamelessly.” In their nine paragraphs used to bolster their argument, the editorial used the term “abortions” only twice, rendering no opinions whatsoever regarding this term.

Based on the above, am I to believe the editorial board’s opinion is that the actions of a political party in Congress are more “shameful” than the more than 1 million abortions that are performed in this country annually?
