Police: Taxi driver stabs passenger who attacked

MERIDIAN, Idaho — Police in Meridian, Idaho, say a taxi driver stabbed a passenger multiple times after the man tried to strangle him.

Police said the incident happened around 2 a.m. Thursday after Riley Talbot, 25, became angry when the driver could not find the home Talbot was directing him to.

Meridian Police Deputy Chief Tracy Basterrechea said the cab driver told police Talbot, of Merrill, Ore., became angry and began to strangle the driver. The driver pulled out a knife and stabbed Talbot several times in the arm.

Police took Talbot into custody before taking him to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Talbot was booked into the Ada County Jail and charged with aggravated battery, possession of marijuana and attempted unlawful entry. Police said the cab driver will not face charges.
