Letter: Story needs more investigating

Mickie Enders’ Sept. 27 letter, “Hoax suspected in clock scare” calling the Muslim boy’s clock debacle a “hoax,” piqued my interest. I did a little Internet digging, and am now bemused by the whole affair.

Staying off sites that appeared to be hate-filled nonsense, I did come away with the sense that there’s more to this story than we Columbian readers have seen. The Columbian recently published glowing accounts of its writers who have received prestigious awards for investigative journalism. Well, investigate.

I don’t believe this amounts to trivial gossip. If it’s all a carefully orchestrated plan on the part of an immigrant father to inflame racial hatred, then we the people need to know. At the very least, The Columbian’s readers need to find out how easily the media can manipulate the general public.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
