Letter: Fireworks ban easy to skirt

Kudos to the Vancouver City Council for finally following the wishes of the people and voting to ban the sale and usage of fireworks within the city. Now they have nearly two years to come up with an enforcement plan. And good luck with that.

Considering that Vancouver is surrounded by reactionary Clark County, which will undoubtedly never ban a 20th century tradition like fireworks, Vancouverites will only need to drive a couple of miles to buy all they want.

I fully believe that the fireworks industry did this to itself by developing and promoting the sale of the so-called “mortar” rounds, which are indistinguishable from the artillery fire too many of us experienced during combat.
