A transient woman suspected of luring a man to an alleged ambush in an attempt to steal his money made a first appearance Thursday in Clark County Superior Court.

Stephanie K. Boehning, 24, appeared on suspicion of first-degree robbery in connection with the alleged incident last month on Southeast Columbia Way, court records show.

According to a probable cause affidavit, at about 5:30 a.m. Sept. 30, Boehning lured the 53-year-old victim to the 100 block of Southeast Columbia Way, where an alleged accomplice, identified as Kevin McCarter, waited for them.

McCarter allegedly hit the victim multiple times in the head with a bicycle lock while demanding his money. The victim stabbed McCarter in the left rib cage before fleeing, court records said.

The affidavit says McCarter did not obtain any money or property from the victim. It’s unclear whether Boehning did.

The victim sustained large cuts to his face and head, which required staples to close, according to court documents.

McCarter was booked Thursday into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of first-degree robbery. It’s unclear if the charge is related to this case. He will likely make a first appearance today.

During Boehning’s hearing, Judge Scott Collier appointed her a defense attorney and set bail at $25,000.

She is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 22.
