Southbound lanes of Interstate 5 in Portland will close for eight nights starting this weekend for paving and other work, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.

The closures, which will affect southbound I-5 between the Fremont and Marquam bridges, will start at 10 p.m. each night. The freeway will reopen by 5 a.m. each weekday, and by 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday mornings, according to ODOT.

The closures will begin on Saturday and continue each night until the morning of Sunday, Oct. 18. Some ramps connecting to southbound I-5 will also be closed, according to ODOT.

Construction crews are in the process of repaving about seven miles of I-5 and replacing more than 300 green freeway signs along the roadway, according to ODOT.
