In November’s election, the people of Clark County have a chance to improve on the current county council. The declared candidates have chosen to run a clean campaign.

Rep. Liz Pike, R-Vancouver, is not participating in the forums so voters are not given a chance to evaluate her next to the real candidates. I encourage every voter to be informed. The League of Women Voters, as well as neighborhood associations and granges, will be holding candidate forums. Right2bheard.org posts candidate positions online. CVTV has candidate video interviews, as does The Columbian.

In the primary, we voted for the best candidates, and didn’t let money buy the election. Let’s make sure that money and advertising don’t sway the general election, either.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
