A Vancouver woman who was driving drunk when she caused an April crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist was sentenced Monday to six months in jail.

Olga V. Kolesnik, 25, previously pleaded guilty in Clark County Superior Court to vehicular assault. In exchange for her guilty plea, one count of resisting arrest was dismissed.

Deputy Prosecutor James Smith said Kolesnik crashed into another car, causing a chain reaction in which two motorcyclists were struck. The crash occurred at about 8:30 p.m. April 19 near East Mill Plain Boulevard and Lincoln Avenue, according to a probable cause affidavit. One rider was sent to a hospital with a broken femur.

Kolesnik provided police with a preliminary breath test result of a 0.282 percent blood-alcohol concentration. The state’s legal limit to drive is a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.08 percent or less. She was already on probation for DUI at the time of the crash.

Three witnesses said they saw a white BMW, driven by Kolesnik, traveling at high speed east on Mill Plain Boulevard. The car took a sharp turn and skidded sideways at Lincoln Avenue, striking another BMW and two motorcycles, court records said.

During her hearing, Kolesnik declined to make a statement.

Judge Robert Lewis ordered that Kolesnik’s license be revoked and that she undergo a substance abuse evaluation and treatment. He gave her credit for 27 days in custody.
