‘Viable’ bomb threat forces evacuation at Oregon lab

PORTLAND — The National Energy Technology Laboratory in Albany has been evacuated because of a bomb threat.

U.S. Department of Energy spokeswoman Shelley Martin says the threat was received Tuesday morning, and police are on the scene.

The lab is part of the U.S. Department of Energy. Paula Turner, a spokesperson for the NETL and Department of Energy, told KOIN the site received a “viable” bomb threat on a voicemail Tuesday morning and activated their security protocols.

There were no injuries.

Albany is 70 miles south of Portland.
