Clark College Athletic Report, Oct. 4-11

What happened this past week in Clark College athletics:

MEN’S SOCCER
Notable: Clark was 1-1 with a 3-1 loss at Portland CC, and a 4-0 win at home over Southwestern Oregon. Justin Linn had a first-half hat trick in the Penguins’ victory, and also scored Clark’s goal at Portland.
Record: 7-3-2 overall, 6-1-1 (19 points, 1st place) NWAC South. Ranked 5th in Oct. 1 coaches poll.
This week: Clark at Chemeketa, 2:15 p.m. Saturday at Salem, Ore.

WOMEN’S SOCCER
Notable: Clark had a pair of five-goal games in going 2-0 last week with wins over Portland and Southwestern Oregon. Brenna Bogle had three goals in the two games, and Ellie Quercia had a hat trick against SW Oregon and a goal at Portland.
Record: 9-0-3 overall, 6-0-2 (20 points, 1st place) NWAC South. Ranked 5th in Oct. 1 coaches poll.
This week: Clark at at Lane, 1 p.m. Wednesday; Clark at Treasure Valley, noon Sunday.
VOLLEYBALL
Notable: Their only match of the week was a thriller as the Penguins came back from 2-0 down to beat Clackamas 3-2. Scores were 20-25, 21-25, 25-22, 25-13, 15-4. Janessa  Mast and Livia Strandberg had 17 kills each, Union High grad Meghan Turner had 24 digs, and Kinsey Pease had 46 assists for Clark.
Record: 13-9 overall, 2-2 NWAC South (4th place).
This week: Clark at Mt. Hood, 6 p.m. Wednesday; Clark at Chemeketa Crossover, Friday-Saturday at Salem, Ore.
CROSS COUNTRY
Next meet: The Penguins are scheduled to take part in the Mike Hodges Invitational at Clackamas CC on Saturday.
