Letter: Patriots standing guard praised

By
Published:

I was present when I saw these patriots guarding military recruiting offices assist a frightened young lady being stalked and help locate a toddler in the busy parking lot. They also held barbecues and fed not only the military folks but anyone walking by who was hungry. Countless people stopped to thank these guards for their sacrifices.

Armed American patriots help protect and defend all areas of life, not just against armed criminals. Not once was a gun unholstered. Not once. The one tense moment occurred when a man returned to tell how “intimidated” he had felt the day before as he drove by. Really? Police escorted him away, as he wouldn’t stop harassing the military, the guards and passers-by.

That’s one example of guns not killing people, right there. Evil people do. People on drugs do. People who have nothing to lose do. People who don’t understand gun safety do.

If criminals feared punishment they’d receive when caught, if folks were busy with meaningful work, if we returned Christ back to schools and homes, if there was a class in school that taught gun safety, and if we parented our children instead of putting them on so many medications, I think we’d see less criminal violence.

At the end of the day, one must be held responsible for one’s words and actions. Not society. Not any weapon.
