North Garrison Heights — PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center’s three-day bereavement retreat was named for philanthropists Kay and Jim McClaskey, who have been hospital supporters since 1994.

They started donating to the retreat in 2003, and began fully funding the program in 2008.

The retreat helps children and their families deal with the death of loved ones. “Jim and Kay McClaskey’s financial support enables numerous grieving families to attend our annual Stepping Stones bereavement retreat,” said PeaceHealth bereavement manager Jodi Wicks in a release from PeaceHealth. “They touch the heart of every person who comes to the retreat. They are our silent community superheroes.”
