Letter: Prayer at school may cause alarm

The Aug. 26 story “W.Va. student takes classmates hostage: Boy, 14, held them, teacher at gunpoint before surrendering,” may have caused great emotional distress to the American Civil Liberties Union and Freedom From Religion Foundation crowd. The story concerned a student taking a classroom of students hostage in a West Virginia high school. Thank the Lord that the outcome was positive in that the gun-toting student gave up peacefully and no one was hurt … no one except the ACLU and FFR crowd.

The last sentence in the story was “Then we all held hands and said a prayer,” which was a quote from Kayla Smith, a 17-year-old student who was at the school but not involved in the hostage situation directly. I can only imagine the outrage from the ACLU that a student would pray in school. Can you just imagine the intense angst felt by the FFR crowd when they read that story? I pray that both the ACLU and FFR crowd are able to return to their normal state … whatever that is.
