• North County Community Food Bank seeks help stocking the pantry and warehouse, sorting and inspecting donations, preparing client food boxes, and assisting clients.
• Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge is looking for an environmental educator/cultural interpreter to inform the public and lead tours of the plankhouse and on nature walks.
• The Salvation Army seeks help with its “Say Klub,” with projects and homework, and picking up children from school.
• Volunteer Connections is looking for pen pals for the 2015-16 school year to exchange letters with an elementary school student once a month, to help them develop writing skills. Pen pals meet at an end-of-the-year party.
The city of Vancouver and Clark County seek volunteers to help count local trail users this month for the National Bicycle and Pedestrian Documentation Project.
The count will be made from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 15-17 and 9 to 11 a.m. Sept. 19-20. Various two-hour shifts are available. For more information, go to www.parkhero.org

The city of Vancouver seeks to fill one vacancy on the Planning Commission, for a four-year term beginning in January.
The seven-member commission makes recommendations to City Council on the comprehensive plan, sub-area plans, zoning and other city land use matters.
