Letter: Manipulation of vote unwelcome

Shame on Rep. Liz Pike, R-Camas, for going along with the plan by David Madore and the local GOP committee to make her a write-in candidate for the Clark County chair position. This is nothing more than a blatant manipulation by Madore and the committee to retain their power.

Pike states if she wins she will serve as it is the will of the people. The people have nothing to do with this; it is the will of Madore and most of the members of the local Republican Party committee to maintain their control of Clark County. These people do not represent all the residents of Clark County; clearly they do serve their own interests.

Pike is allowing herself to be used by Madore and the committee, or perhaps her motivation comes from the $18,000 yearly bump in salary plus a $700 monthly car allowance the chair position would provide. The county charter was voted in to supposedly do away with these types of power manipulations.

It is disappointing that Pike has allowed herself to be involved and that Madore still attempts these shenanigans.
