Freshman Toa Kamatule rushed for two touchdowns to lead the Hudson Bay Eagles to a 22-0 victory over the Fort Vancouver Trappers in a Greater St. Helens non-league matchup.
“This is a great feeling, keeping the Peace Pipe,” said Kamatule. “We’ve been waiting for this all summer.”
Hudson’s Bay outgained Fort Vancouver on the ground 179 to minus six which sealed the fate of the Trappers who lost to the Eagles for the second year in a row.
The game started slowly until Kamatule scored from one yard out after a botched Trapper punt. A combined 23 penalties contributed to the slowness of the contest. Kamatule added a nine yard run in the third quarter to make it 12-0 and when Marcus Cadiz returned an interception 37 yards to the end zone to make it 22-0 the game was pretty much over.
