SNOHOMISH — A 19-year-old driver in a stolen car was killed after a police pursuit ended in a fiery crash in Snohomish County.

The Daily Herald reports that the crash happened Monday night. The driver of the stolen 1994 BMW sedan died at the scene.

Everett police officer Aaron Snell says the Snohomish County coroner will confirm the man’s identity.

Two experienced deputies and a Mill Creek police officer were involved in the incident.

The BMW was reported stolen at about 9 p.m. Deputies spotted the car heading east on Cathcart Way and began following it. Snell says the car drove across Highway 9 and went off the road.

Snell says the vehicle caught fire and, despite attempts to rescue the driver, he died at the scene.
