Emergency personnel say three people sustained critical injuries in a head-on crash near the Clark-Skamania county line Sunday afternoon.

Crews responded to the crash, reported on Washougal River Road about a mile south of the Washougal River Mercantile, just after 4:30 p.m., according to Skamania County Emergency Medical Services and the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office.

First responders found a 2007 black Volvo laying on its roof north of the road, as well as another nearby white 1998 Subaru Legacy involved in the crash.

The occupants of the Volvo were identified as Philip Wilson, 28, of Camas, who was trapped in the wreckage, and Annette Fletcher, 50, who was helped from the vehicle by a bystander, according to the sheriff’s office and Skamania EMS.

The driver of the second vehicle, 28-year-old Kristina C. Zimmerman of Washougal, was lying on the side of the road, emergency personnel said.

Crews freed Wilson from the Volvo, and all three crash victims were taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with critical injuries, Skamania EMS spokeswoman Kaitlyn Hildenbrand said.

All three were listed in satisfactory condition at PeaceHealth on Tuesday afternoon.

Skamania EMS was assisted at the scene by Skamania County Fire District 4, East County Fire & Rescue and the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office.

No citations or arrests have been made, according to the sheriff’s office, but deputies continue to investigate what caused the crash.
