Week 2 football player of the week: Gavin Lee, Heritage

Gavin Lee of Heritage was voted The Columbian’s high school football player of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Sept. 12.

Lee collected 38 percent of the 6,018 votes cast by fans to beat out Kedrick Johnson of Hockinson, who had 27 percent.

Lee, a quarterback, passed for 168 yards and ran for 88 more and a touchdown in a win over Hudson’s Bay.

The other nominees were Anthony Ramirez of Mountain View, Blake Ingram of Skyview and Liam Fitzgerald of Camas.

Nominees and the online ballot are posted at www.360preps.com each Sunday and voting continues until 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Athletes may be elected athlete of the week once a month during the regular season, and no athlete can be nominated for the honor in consecutive weeks.
