Fishing report, 9/16

As of Tuesday, the fishing landscape along the Columbia River had a underwent a change.

No chinook retention is allowed between the Lewis River and Tongue Point. Chinook are off-limits downstream of the Lewis River until Oct. 1.

Angler sampling by the Washington (WDFW) and Oregon (ODFW) departments of Fish and Wildlife:

Lower Columbia — Clatsop Spit to Tongue Point, 20 coho kept; plus 11 coho and four Chinook released for 106 anglers. (ODFW)

• Cathlamet, four boaters with three adult fall chinook kept and seven released; two bank rods with no chinook caught. (WDFW)

• Longview, 220 boaters with 377 adult chinook and one adult coho kept plus 63 adult chinook released; 54 bank rods with 3 adult chinook kept plus eighth steelhead released. (WDFW)

• Kalama, 275 boaters with 92 adult chinook and two jack chinook kept plus one adult chinook released; 154 bank rods with 13 adult chinook kept plus 88 released. (WDFW)

• Woodland, 105 boaters with 14 adult chinook kept and 28 released; 22 bank rods with three adult chinook kept and seven steelhead released. (WDFW)

• Warrior Rock to Kelley Point, 258 boaters with 115 adult fall chinook kept; 216 bank rods with 43 adult chinook kept. (WDFW)

• Tongue Point to Portland, 262 boats showed 20 adult fall Chinook, two jack fall Chinook and four adult coho kept; plus 137 adult fall Chinook, three jack fall Chinook and two adult coho released. (ODFW)

• Westport, Ore., to Portland, one adult fall Chinook kept; plus four adult fall Chinook released for 42 bank anglers. (ODFW)

• Troutdale, Ore., one adult fall Chinook kept; plus four adult fall Chinook released for 42 bank anglers. (ODFW)

• Columbia Gorge (downstream of Bonneville Dam), 46 boats with 108 adult fall Chinook and seven jack Chinook kept; plus three adult fall Chinook and one jack Chinook released. (ODFW)
