EVERETT — A Washington State Patrol trooper is in the hospital with serious injuries after a dramatic crash.

KOMO-TV reports that medics and other troopers responded to a call that a trooper had been hit on Highway 99 at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

The trooper was found with serious injuries. He was taken to Providence Hospital in Everett for treatment.

The driver of the car who hit him, a 48-year-old Monroe man, was taken to Harborview Medical Center. Both are expected to recover.

Officials say the Monroe man pulled out of a coffee stand and slammed into the trooper’s patrol vehicle.

Charges are pending against the driver who caused the crash. Drugs or alcohol were not believed to be a factor in the accident.
