Firefighters responded to a two-alarm house fire this morning near Lacamas Lake in Camas.

They were dispatched to the home, 5205 N.W. Astor Court, shortly after 6 a.m., according to emergency dispatch logs.

The resident of the house called 911 after hearing her smoke alarm go off.  Shortly thereafter, neighbors reported smelling smoke in the area, fire officials said.

Firefighter-Paramedic Chris Richardson was the first on scene Sunday morning and arrived to find smoke billowing from the roof of a three-story home, he said. When he circled the house, he said, “there was some fire blowing out of the third-story window.”

Crews called for a second-alarm response, and soon firefighters from the Vancouver Fire Department and East County Fire & Rescue arrived to help. The flames were contained to the third floor of the house and were knocked down in about 20 minutes, Richardson said.

The fire is under investigation and displaced at least one woman, Richardson said. Property records list Barbara Armstrong as the home’s owner.
